WHERE WE PLAY
Whitehorse Mustangs field junior domestic teams primarily in the EDJBA, but if you put together a complete team (players, coach and team manager) we can register your team in the GEBC, MEBA or CBL competitions (conditions apply). Here’s some information about these competitions:
EDJBA COMPETITION
EDJBA: the largest junior domestic competition in Australia with games played on Saturdays from Park Orchards to Princes Hill, Bundoora to Blackburn South
OTHER COMPETITIONS:
Registration subject to interest – BYO team (min 7 players) welcome!
GEBC: Nunawading Basketball’s competition played on Saturdays from Wantirna South to East Burwood, Mulgrave to Mitcham.
MEBA: Nunawading Basketball’s local competition played mid-week from Wantirna South to East Burwood, Mulgrave to Mitcham
CBL: Camberwell Basketball’s local competition played on Saturdays from Bulleen to Ashburton, Richmond to Balwyn
WINTER 2025 AGE GROUPS
Age groups are determined based on date of birth with cut-off dates differing depending on the competition.
Playing outside your age group
- Up an age group: it is possible for a player to play in the age group above their correct age (eg. U09 by date of birth can play U11s); please note this on the registration form
- Up two age groups: it is possible for a player to play in the age group 2 above their correct age (eg. U09 by date of birth can play U13s), but this requires the parent or guardian to sign a waiver before they play*
- Down an age group: it is possible to apply for permission for a player to play in the age group below their correct age, but this usually requires supporting documentation from a medical professional
* email registrar@whitehorsebasketball.org.au to discuss
Game Development Levy
There is a $5.50 per year Basketball Australia Game Development Levy introduced to “support the growth and development of basketball at all levels of the game and to enhance opportunities for the sport”.
PlayHQ Service Fee
PlayHQ charges a 1.49% service fee on all transactions to “ensure PlayHQ can continue to build features to make administrator roles easier and elevate the current participant experience”.

MISSED REGISTRATION?
If you’re interested in joining a Mustangs team, but missed the registration period, please email your child’s name and date of birth to our Registrar and we will do our best to accommodate subject to availability: registrar@whitehorsebasketball.org.au.
TEAM SELECTION PROCESS
Our volunteer Team Selection Committee take pride in doing their utmost to place your child in a team that best suits their ability, allowing them to develop both confidence and a love of the game. For more information, please read our Team Selection Policy, available at the bottom of this page.
Please keep in mind, the more restrictions a player has, the harder it is to place them in a team. To assist the selection committee in putting together teams, please:
- limit the number of activities scheduled on Saturday
- maximise the times and/or days your child is available to train
PLEASE NOTE: issues arising from team selection are reviewed by the selection committee- not individuals- and so can only be lodged via the Team Selection Feedback form within 72 hours of teams being released.
