About Us

What We Do

WHITEHORSE MUSTANGS is a junior domestic basketball club based in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. We field a number of teams for both boys and girls primarily within Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA). This competition is the largest junior domestic competition in Australia and plays on a Saturday in a home and away style format.

We enter teams in three other junior competitions that are local to our area as demand allows:

  • Melbourne East Basketball Association (MEBA)
  • Greater Eastern Basketball Competition (GEBC)
  • Commuity Basketball League (CBL)

We also run a weekly beginner program for those 9 years old and under called Mini Mustangs.

Acknowledgement of Country

Whitehorse Mustangs acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we practice and play. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At the Mustangs we aim to provide and promote the sport of basketball to ensure all members, families and participants can:

  • enjoy – participate in basketball in a fun, safe and enjoyable environment;
  • encourage – all children of all abilities and cultures to come together and learn the fundamental skills of basketball;
  • evolve – as players, coaches, managers, committee members and volunteers through team work, leadership, commitment, confidence, sportsmanship & respect.

It is through our philosophy that we have been able to develop a strong community. The club is a conduit for the development of strong personal friendships as children play together and parents volunteer together. And even as most members are introduced to playing or their children playing, rewarding opportunities abound in coaching, team managing, refereeing, venue supervising, committee membership and other voluntary roles.

At the Mustangs we welcome playing members of all abilities and from all social, cultural and religious backgrounds.
