First Aid
Whitehorse Basketball (the Club) works to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every player and coach, at every playing and training venue.
The Club does not have the personnel or resources to provide a qualified first aid practitioner at every playing or training venue. However, the Club provides a sports injury first aid kit to every team and is committed to ensuring that suitably designated club officials (coaches and team managers) are present at each venue when playing or training occurs.
The Club seeks to ensure that players, coaches and team managers are provided with an awareness of safety practices as well as the information needed to report an injury.
Coaches and team managers in charge of players are expected to use their best endeavours at all times, particularly in emergencies, to secure the welfare of players at the Club. For more information, please refer to the Club’s First Aid Policy below.
Injury
Injury Reporting Process
Any individual who injures themselves at a Whitehorse Basketball training, game or Club organised event must:
- Report the matter to the staff member in charge of the venue (e.g. venue supervisor, team manager, committee member)
- Complete the online Injury Report Form above
If at an external venue (e.g. away game), report the matter to the staff member in charge of that venue.
Concussion
A concussion is considered a minor brain injury. So…
WHEN IN DOUBT – SIT THEM OUT
Whitehorse Basketball’s Concussion Policy is available below.
We encourage all coaches and team managers to download the HeadCheck App and use it to quickly assess a player with suspected concussion.
