WABA AGM & Call for Committee and Volunteers

It has been a fantastic season of basketball for the Whitehorse Mustangs, and our club continues to experience exciting growth.

As we look ahead to another year, we need new faces at the table.

We are inviting members of the Whitehorse Mustangs community to get involved with the club, whether that is through joining the General Committee, taking on an Executive role, or volunteering in one of our many areas such as sponsorship, fundraising, marketing and more.

Get Involved with the Mustangs

Our committee is run entirely by parent volunteers, with people bringing a wide range of skills, backgrounds and experiences to the club.

You don’t need to be a basketball expert or have previous committee experience.

In fact, our current leadership team is proof that you can learn along the way. One of our long-serving members was a netballer who had never watched a basketball match until her 8-year-old twins started playing. Safe to say, she has more than made up for it since!

Several of our long-serving committee members will be preparing to step down over the coming seasons as their children age out of junior basketball with WABA. We want to bring new members into the club now, giving you the opportunity to learn how things work and gradually take on more responsibility.

Even if you can’t commit to a formal committee position, we’d love for you to consider one of our Volunteer Positions. Giving just an hour a month can make a huge difference to our club.

The AGM is expected to finish at approximately 8:45 PM.

All WABA members are welcome to attend, and we ask that every team sends two representatives.

Appointing a Proxy

If you are unable to attend the AGM, you can appoint another WABA member to vote on your behalf. This could be a friend, teammate or current committee member.

Proxy appointments must be provided in writing to secretary@whitehorsebasketball.org.au before the AGM begins.

Your proxy appointment should clearly state whether the person has the freedom to vote as they choose or whether you are providing specific voting instructions.

Nominations are now open for General Committee and Executive positions.

Nominations close at the end of Monday, 19 October 2026.

To nominate, complete the Committee / Volunteer Nomination Form included with the AGM papers.

Who Can Nominate?

Any WABA member aged 18 or over is eligible to nominate, including:

• Parents and guardians
• Players
• Referees
• Other club members

No previous basketball or committee experience is required.

We encourage all members to take the opportunity to get involved, ask questions and help shape the future of our club.
