Mini Mustangs Doubles the Fun for Term 3

Mini Mustangs Doubles the Fun for Term 3

The Whitehorse Mustangs are excited to announce that, due to overwhelming demand, Mini Mustangs will now run two sessions every Saturday in Term 3.

Designed for children aged 5 to 9, Mini Mustangs has become one of the club’s most popular programs, introducing hundreds of young athletes to basketball in a fun, safe and supportive environment. With registrations continuing to grow, the addition of a second session will allow even more families to be part of the Mustangs community.

Mini Mustangs focuses on developing confidence, coordination and fundamental basketball skills through engaging games and activities. Whether it’s a child’s first time holding a basketball or they’re already dreaming of becoming the next basketball star, every session is built around learning through play and creating positive experiences on the court.

Leading the program is James Coleman, whose passion for junior development and impressive basketball résumé make him the perfect person to guide the next generation of Mustangs.

James is a three-time National Championship gold medallist with Victoria Metro, represented Australia internationally in China, winning a bronze medal, claimed a National University Sport gold medal with Deakin University and currently competes in the Big V Youth League Championship with the Diamond Valley Eagles.

While his playing achievements are impressive, James is most passionate about helping young players discover the joy of basketball.

“Mini Mustangs is all about creating a positive first experience in sport,” said Coleman. “We want every child to leave each session with a smile on their face, more confidence than when they arrived, and excitement to come back the following week.”

The program is built around the Whitehorse Mustangs philosophy of fun, inclusion, participation and development. Children are encouraged to learn at their own pace while developing teamwork, sportsmanship and a lifelong love of physical activity.

With two sessions now available each Saturday, families have greater flexibility while ensuring every participant receives quality coaching and plenty of opportunities to be involved.
